Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - Canadian Unison Festival 2006, proudly sponsored by The Creekhouse Gallery, is the third Canadian festival of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Trans-gendered, and Friends Choruses, taking place May 19-22, 2006 in the beautiful city of Vancouver at the incredible Chan Centre on the University of British Columbia campus.

The 2006 Canadian Unison Festival Society (a local non-profit society) will host the over 500 delegates expected at the choral festival. One of the highlights of this weekend of quality choral programming will be the host choruses’ opening night celebration concert, Friday, May 19th, 8pm at the Chan Centre.

“This fabulous night of choral theatre is designed to make all participants from across Canada and beyond feel right at home,” says Willi Zwozdesky, the Artistic Director for the Festival and conductor of the Vancouver Men's Chorus for the past 24 years. “Each of the BC-based host choruses will present signature programming to represent Canada’s musical landscape from ocean to ocean to ocean in a concert that culminates in a sweeping welcome to British Columbia with music from our own province.”

In addition to the opening night gala concert, there will be three separate concert blocks offered throughout the weekend to showcase the participating choruses from across Canada.

“This is a rare opportunity to see what the choral movement is accomplishing across Canada,” says Zwozdesky. “What musicians sing on the East Coast is often very different from what you may experience locally. Here is your chance to get a true taste of our cultural diversity.”

Tickets to the Canadian Unison Festival 2006, proudly sponsored by The Creekhouse Gallery, opening night celebration concert featuring the local BC groups, or tickets for individual concert blocks showcasing groups from across Canada, are $25.00 (Students/Seniors $20) and can be purchased through Ticketmaster (604-280-3311) or online at www.ticketmaster.ca
