What is Unison?

GLBTT* choruses from across Canada gather every four years to share their music at what has become known as Unison Festival. Previous festivals have been hosted in Edmonton 1998, Toronto 2002, Vancouver 2006 and now Winnipeg 2010. Approximately 17 choirs and 450 singers will perform during 30 minute concert blocks on Saturday, May 22 and Sunday, May 23, 2010 in the historic Knox United Church located in the heart of the city. “This event has proven not only to be a musically moving festival but an affirming, educational and fun packed weekend.” says Vic Hooper, artistic director of the Rainbow Harmony Project.

Rainbow Harmony Project will present their magic sound as they host the Opening Night Concert on May 21, 8 p.m. The concert will include a special performance by a GALA Choruses choir composed of singers from throughout the USA. The Closing Exercises on Monday, May 24, 11 a.m. will feature the SSA, TTBB and Mixed Unison Festival Choruses. These choruses are made up of festival delegates and are conducted by nationally recognized conductors.
